Meeting with Mayor and Superintendent

Today we met with the city officials. You can see me here presenting my meishi, a business card to the Superintendent of Schools for Joyo City. The Mayor is the other person in the photo. The city pays for the buildings and grounds, the superintendent is appointed by the mayor. He has no educational experience in the classroom. The next layer is in control of the schools. I represented the group and gave a speech. The afternoon was spent at Kyoto University of Education. I wanted to get a shirt, hat, etc.They don’t sell any university clothes or objects. (This is NOT like The Ohio State University.) We got to talk to students for 1 1/2 hours. It was very interesting. They want to know so much about the United States. What I can’t believe is the lack of technology in the school. Students hand write many things. Limited computers.
