logo_left.jpgI just received news that I won the “Mary Hoffman” award from IMEA. This is the highest honor a music teacher can receive from IMEA. It honors Mary Hoffman, a former professor at the University of Illinois and author of the Silver-Burdette Music series. As it stated in my letter from IMEA ” The award is given to current music teachers who have demonstrated the characteristics of an outstanding music educator and continue excellence in teaching. I will be receiving the award during the General Session on Thursday, January 31, 2008.

  1. Way to go!! Be sure to tell us all about the Awards ceremony when you return from Peoria. Wish it was closer so we could all attend and applaud.

  2. Dear Carol, It’s about time that the State of Illinois awards you the recognition that we’ve known all along you deserve!! This is a big deal!! Be sure to pass along the media release to Ohio State Alumni Magazine and also the School of Music Newsletter. Before you can do that, I’m going to tell EVERYONE I know!! Do you get to go on Oprah? Let’s check into it! When you retire, you can go on the speaking circuit! Seriously! Love you, kiddo! Dianne Go Bucks! (let’s not talk about what happened Monday night!)
