The sixth graders are working on my favorite project – the Sibelius Project. They compose a song in Sibelius, notation software. I sit with each student and review their composition. One of the biggest problems is they compose too much. Together we select one or two motifs and create a composition around them. They add articulation and dynamics. We then make a folder to save the composition. One of the files is a MIDI file, which they import to GarageBand. They change the instrumentation and add more loops, then share to iTunes. I post their GarageBand on www.carolbroos.com under each individual class.
Their final folder has five files:.sib.mid.htm.band.m4a
