I have to give a terrific clap of hands to all my students about the progress of HONK! our spring musical. There were more students than ever in the show, and that can create problems when only one person can talk. However, this year the show is amazing.
I am always concerned about “ownership.” Ownership of the show is critical. The faster the students take ownership of the show, the better the rehearsals, the better the show. In the past, I have had shows that ownership did not happen until a week before the show. Not in this case, ownership has already taken over, two months before the show is due to go up. Students are rehearsing each other, they are repectful and the amount of improv concerning the script is amazing. Students are re-writing lines and creating their character. Mr. Arnold and I are so impressed with the group. Tomorrow, I will start with the fourth grade. They will be “froglets.”
This show is going to be life-changing for so many students, I can’t wait until this unfolds!!!
