Beautifully edited soundscape Carole; as you mentioned, the sound clips flow with the music, rather than working against it. The image this sequence conveyed for me tied in with my running - setting off down the path, out into the countryside to enjoy the birdsong, hitting a steep little hill and culminating in an elevated heartbeat that pulses in my head.
Now whether that was your intent ... ;-)

I agree with your comments about all teachers having to have a set of broader skills. In the UK JISC are doing a lot of a work exploring digital literacies (my job involves supporting FE & HE in Scotland to use learning technologies) - http://bit.ly/hUY8ph

I consider myself to be a bit of a " Hybrid" having started following a career in Hospitality, moving on to a career teaching hospitality in Further Education in Scotland and now career in eLearning. There are more an more "hybrid" types but not as a result of much planned CPD from institutions more because of personal interest. These people are perhaps better placed to take advantage of opportunities like this one presented by Colin through this creative collective. http://www.jisc.ac.uk/news/stories/2011/09/oer.aspx

Have you seen the artwork of Wassily Kandinsky? He painted 'music'. A lot of his artwork is based on music and is very abstract. He was probably a synesthete and could 'see' music. We use his work as inspiration in teaching graphic design and often do an exercise where students try to represent a piece of music as abstract visuals.

Yes, when I was on a conference call and someone came into my office, instead of mute, I put the call on hold... everyone had to listen to the muzac from our phone system. Duh!

Hi Carol,
Looking forward to collaborating in edtechcc; great to enjoy the company of educators from around the world.
Thinking about how you phrased "...music, technology, and how education fits between the two..." and wondering whether you see yourself as a musical technologist or technological musician and how being an educator fits in there too. Is there a dominant aspect, do the three elements intersect, or are they three hats which are worn separately according to the situation?

Sorry. Stuff like that just gets me thinkin' ;-)

Hi

Really looking forward to sharing ideas with you. Its great that there are such a wide range of educators taking part in Edtechcc. I'm going to let my pupils do some of the activities too and hope to post their results.

Wish I could see your presentation. What is the difference between composing and "creating sound"?

I can have anyone create "art" on an iPad as well. But putting colors together isn't necessarily art.
