Student Voices

I just started with a new group of eighth graders this past week, I had two boys that were REALLY interested in online gaming and interactive websites. In fact, after I showed them all the cool interactive sites I have found over the past year, they immediately went home and played. Yes, played. So, when I approached them to add to this blog, their eyes brighten up. I can’t wait to show them how to use wordpress and contribute to the “one,” the internet. You will see their weekly posts and their take on the sites they use in class. Enjoy!

Adding Sound

Here is an experiment to add sound or podcast directly to the blog. I am working on a bumper music, wait…. hey, shouldn’t student compose this instead, of course. This is be one of the first projects students will work on – their OWN bumper music that best represents them or their “brand.” My brand is the song I composed – August. It seemed to fit.

Student Voices to be HEARD!

Twitter account

I am now working on getting the twitter account with the blog up and running for the first day. My hope is to have a group of students I regularly interview and discuss current practices within the MIDI lab. My students MAKE me look good. They are the reason I have been able to move so fast with music technology. There is NO competition or micro-control within the lab, instead it is a community of collaboration and contribution. Hence, the reason for this blog/twitter experiment. I thought others in the music education world would like to hear from actual students, with student voices.
